The 10 Commandments of Weight Loss – Work it Wed.

by Lyndi

10 commandments of weight loss by Harmony Mitchell Dietician.
1. Thou shalt not go on fad diets or even think the word “diet”; therein lies the way of madness.  Instead choose healthy eating and exercise.
2. Thou shalt make exercise fun.  Join a class, try something new, and get your family involved.
3. Thou shalt stay hydrated.  Remember drink water or low calorie drinks.  For extended exercise remember to replace electrolytes with a drink like Gatorade G2.
4. Thou shalt not skip breakfast. It really is the most important meal
of the day!
5. Thou shalt eat not when thy brain lusteth, but only when thy
body requires sustenance.  Don’t eat when you are bored, and avoid
eating in front of the TV.  Take a walk or call a friend instead of
eating to relax.
6. Thou shalt shop smart. Shop the perimeter of the store first. Buy
plenty of fruits and vegetables and aim for 5 servings a day.
7. Thou shalt be adventurous. Try different ethnic foods, try a new
cookbook or attend a cooking class.
8. Thou shalt be prepared.  Have snacks in your car, at work or at
home.  Package snacks in individual servings to help you avoid
eating too much.
9. Thou shalt use less fat. Eliminate extra fat by trimming visible fat
on meat, trade full-fat versions of foods for lower-fat ones and
bake, broil, grill, and steam rather than fry.
10. Thou shalt smile. This is not meant to be a painful process.
Set goals that are enjoyable and fun for you to achieve but still
challenging and rewarding.

Great tips!  Thanks Harmony!
